Bills Readied for Session- MARTINSVILLE BULLETIN |
|
State Sen. Roscoe Reynolds, D-Ridgeway, has said he will introduce bills to ban payday lending and allow prosecutors to seize money and property from people who run organized dogfighting rings.
He also said he plans to introduce legislation to do away with some of what he believes to be missteps from last year's session. Reynolds said he will try to do away with the abusive driver fees, but he pointed out the legislation exists because it is what members of the House wanted it. He said he does not believe the House has changed enough that its members will support eliminating the fees instead of simply modifying them.
Reynolds also said he plans legislation that will "restore discretion to the State Corporation Commission" in utility rate cases, undoing the effects of a regulation bill Reynolds has said favors the utility companies and takes discretion away from the SCC.
